This desert park of 800,000 acres is a fascinating variety of plants and animals that make their home in this land shaped by strong winds, unpredictable torrents of rain, and climatic extremes. Dark night skies, a rich cultural history, and surreal geologic features add to the attraction of this place.
We visited the park twice and were lucky to experience the effect of a foot of snow at the higher altitudes.

So very cool. What a wonderful landscape....so different.
One foot of snow! That's more than we have! Aren't you lucky.
Dad, is that someone standing at the top of the rock on the last photo?
Maggie looks like she's having fun too.
Thanks for sharing your sights! So interesting.
love you, Kellie
Good eye Kellie.
Yes indeed, it was a kid who climbed the rock! Maggie did a great job getting to the arches as it was a good "vertical" distance from the observation site.
That state park was magic. They had many primitve campsites and we would have loved to spend a night there since the dark skies would have enhanced the settings.
Love Dad
amazing shots
Hope you enjoy the California coast
love you Paul
