OSCAR SCHERER STATE PARK FL

Just finished our first week here.Very quiet with great weather.
The park is located near Venice FL.
A black water creek, South Creek, flows through the park.
Various kinds of wild live thrive in this park setting.
The early morning light highlights the many fish in the creek.
 Camera shy great blue heron.

Trail Map
With temperatures in the low eighties in the day and low seventies at night, we have something to "wine" about!
Even Maggie likes to "kick back" here.
Hope the water warms up soon (chilly 70f).
Already we are acting like locals.
 Bird of Paradise
Christmas is a coming to this street.
Siesta Beach is voted the top beach in the USA.
Sand dollars and beautiful coloured seaweed can be found on the beach.
 Pelicans stop for pictures.
Evening Sky
PS - Note of Interest
This is not my pic but I would like to mention that on the first evening in the park I was lucky enough to have stepped on an armadillo. I would normally carry a flashlight after dark but natures call was so loud it blocked my decision making. The reason I stated "I was lucky" is the fact we both survived the encounter.
Now if I could only get my flip flop down from the top of that tree!

WELCOME TO FLORIDA

 ARRIVAL IN FLORIDA!!
Paynes Prairie State Park was a great location to R&R.
This is the REAL FLORIDA check it out:
Lots of Spanish moss cover the trees and wildlife are abundant on the many walking and biking trails.

Drying their wings is a full time job for the many birds on the lakeside.
Views from all the trails made it difficult to watch out for the snakes, alligators and even bison.

The viewing tower made it easy to enjoy the vastness of the prairie setting.

This state park is truly a natural setting.
 Long Wing Zebra Butterfly
 Prairie Sunset
A very quiet campsite made our stay most enjoyable.

GIVHANS FERRY STATE PARK SC

To visit this great South Carolina State Park, just click on the link below:
This quiet park has always been one of our favorites in the Summerville area.
We spent two days just relaxing in the park.
The black waters of the Edisto River provide great opportunities for "reflective picture taking".

Spanish moss accents the surrounding forest.
The setting sun peeks through the trees.

The chilly nights did little to lessen the enjoyment of many campers.

Even in the great outdoors, education is available.
Now if I could only remember where I concealed my weapons!!!

"Don't worry Mamma - we be home soon"
Arrival at Myrtle Beach State Park.
After nearly twenty years, the park gets better each year.
This time of year, horse clubs visit the beach.

 Off to the beach.

Sand dunes on the beach
State Park fishing pier.
Chris watching new arrivals at the beach.
The fishing pier operates 24/7.
A lone surfer looking for evening waves.

Flowers are everywhere.
The coastal forest in the park is simply amazing.
