MYRTLE BEACH SC to NEW BERN NC

Our setup at the KOA in New Bern NC.

New Bern is 300km from Myrtle and located on the Neuse River.

New Bern is the birthplace of Pepsi Cola in the 1890's.

During our journey we travel by large areas of farm land with many abandoned homes which were probably the result of small farms changing owners for larger operations.

Many older homes were updated with charming colours.

Many black bears roam the area and the town has used this activity to promote the symbol at many of it's businesses.

Maggie really enjoyed the dog area at the KOA.

The sun setting on the river was a delightful feature of this park.

The copperhead is not a rattlesnake. It has excellent camouflage and as a result encounters are high with this snake.

BROOKGREEN GARDENS

It's very difficult to choose pics from BROOKGREEN Gardens as the area covers many acres of wild life, gardens and art. The many pieces of art are set in outdoor surrounds and easily require days to view and admire. This is truly a "one of a kind" attraction and should not be missed when visiting South Carolina.

The trail travels through a fresh water swamp which contains a number of alligators.

Many new displays are now telling the stories of the slaves that worked the plantations that comprise BrookGreen.

Some displays are set in various buildings.

Wild life add to the enjoyment of many displays.

Just had to add this Nova Scotia fisherman to my collection.

The children's garden is one of my favorites.

BEACHIN" HUNTINGTON STATE PARK SC

Walk to beach from camp site.

Arriving at the beach area.

The beach area is three miles long and all natural.

It is not groomed and that's a good thing.

This is a cannon ball jelly fish and spider crab.

The young crab lives on the jelly fish at the start of life.

This horse crab is over one foot across and you can easily tell if you step on it with your bare feet.

The "star" of the beach.

I like to "keep an eye out" for shells.

The wind creates these paterns with the sea grass.

Guess who loves this water!
