Along the South Carolina coast the residents are requested
to turn off any coastal lights from May to October.
This action will help the threatened Logger Head
turtle navigate to it's nesting areas and hopefully
increase both the production and survival rate
for this species.
On two mornings we joined a group of volunteers that
walk the local beach in the early morning (5am) to
survey the success of this project. With a wake up
call from Randy, we were on the road.
The search is on.First order of the day was to upright a large horse shoe
crab that was over turned on the beach. It was rewarding to see it safely on its way.
