Water levels in the canal have encouraged the
gators to return.
Only about seven feet, this little fellow was active!
Easily spooked, I was lucky enough to capture a pic of this large soft shell turtle. As a side note: being not familiar with my new camera, I had taken the pic with my zoom on and thought I was much closer then I realized. Suddenly in my viewfinder the water reflection of a fast moving loud grey tanker truck appeared in my viewfinder. To me this was interpreted as another alligator moving at high speed towards me. My reaction must have been unusual to the passing vehicle passengers as I throw myself on the grass and started to kick my feet in self defence ! What an experience!
