EVERGLADES KAYAK TRIP

KAYAKING THE TURNER RIVER

Turner River launching of the Naples RV Resort kayak club.
It was my good fortune to be invited on their outing.
Off we go on the Turner Rive Route in the Florida Everglades.
This area is wide open as we head in the Florida mangroves.

River grass makes paddling a little difficult.
Our route starts to close in on us.
Beautiful water lilies are everywhere.

Alligators start to line our route.

Mangroves cover the river banks.

Our paces slows as we enter the mangrove tunnels.
With our paddles shortened, we make it through the tunnels.
An open area provides a rest area for the crews.
Exiting the "Mangrove Tunnel".
When a vulture looks down at my apple and cookies, I decide to move out.
The paddle at the bottom of this pic, shows how close we were to the alligator.

More ".gator escorts"
Under the highway bridge and we returned to our launch site.
After three exciting hours we sadly loaded up and headed home.
Can't wait for the next trip!!!
