Our journey from San Antonio TX to Seminole Canyon State Park was through the wide open spaces of Texas. Many Texas Ranches were sighted on the route.
Highways had little traffic as we headed to the southern most parts on the Mexican border.
A great Texas "WHATABURGER" was a treat for lunch-cw a great red wine.
Park Entrance
Early Earth Oven.
Wind water pumps helped open the west.
Visitor Centre
Canyon floor as sighted from the visitor centre.
Campsite on the canyon edge was quiet and peaceful.
Distance View
Watch your step around here!
Evening Sunsets
A tribute to the first peoples of the area.
West side of the canyon.
Off we go to the canyon floor to view the many 7000 year old pictographs done by the early residents of the state of Texas.
The 200 ft drop to the canyon floor was interesting.
We arrived at the first site of the drawings.
Amazing colours and detail.
On the march to the second site.
The climb on the edge of the canyon required a lot of attention to each step.
We journeyed alongside fossils of what was a ten thousand year old sea bed.
Chris was inspired to touch a "chopping stone" that was most likely used by cooks preparing meals thousands of years ago. It was like an altar high above the canyon floor.
More Pictographs
Hikers in the canyon.
A collection of sea shells.
A magical place to visit.
