DORCAS BAY WINTER OLYMPICS

Welcome to the Annual Dorcas Bay Winter Olympics.

Unlike other Olympics, these are held every year since there are only two seasons at Dorcas Bay - winter and getting ready for winter!! With a climate that has a good chance of snow 8 months of the year, the full time residents enjoy the games as both entertainment and survival.

"LET THE GAMES BEGIN" The "OPENING SYMBOL": the lighting of the first wood stove. The snow blower manual start.

This requires the blower to be outside in -10c weather for 7 days and has to start within the first 40 pulls. The Olympic record is 23 pulls and in reality is a necessary skill due to the many power outages in the Bruce area.
The winners in this event are easily recognized by the length of the pull arm.

The fastest and largest firewood to basement delivery.

Note:this GOLD Medalist knows all the tricks

The quickest windshield cleaning. The winner in this event only has to clear the side of the windshield that matches the side of the road that is drivable.
Deer Dodging
This event happens on most of the back roads every winter.

Locating your car in a parking lot after a storm.

Rules: Only one try by using your vehicle antenna for ID. This shows a disqualified participant who also doesn't shop local.
Onlookers are welcome at all the events.
At day and also at midnight. During the winter the local Wii Bowling League also has the OLYMPIC ROLLOFF.

The winning team is pictured above.

NOTE:
You may have noticed that the GOLD medal is the only award presented at our games.

That goes way back to the days when our Dorcas Bay athletes traveled the Peninsula and were greeted in the communities by

"here comes a bunch of "WINNERS"".

ENJOY THE REST OF WINTER -- WE WILL!

Oh Dad, what a laugh! That's great stuff! Looks like there weren't too many contenders, so you must have ended up with most of the medals yourself!

Can't wait to see the Summer Olympics!

I would like to compete next year. So in preparation I'm enjoying a second cup of coffee as I write up a For Sale sign for my skis and skates and search for the perfect snow shovel. As Kellie wisely noted, your chances of winning all the gold medals will be reduced by 50%
