BIG SUR VIEWS

Big Sur is a 90 mile California coastal #1 highway route north from
 Carmel by the Sea.

The Bixby Bridge was one of the first constructed on the highway in 1935.

We travelled south on the highway with the trailer, an interesting and scary adventure, on the way to Carmel.

A day trip out of Carmel without the trailer gave us more opportunity for sight seeing.

This coastline is breath taking.
The view out the kitchen window of the trailer during our lunch was special.

Wild flowers only added to the great scenery.

Maggie was a little attention stealer also.
Local Garden
Super size plants on the route.

Great snacks at the local restaurants.
The menu included a great ocean view.

The McWay Falls at the Julia Pfeiffer SP.
Thanks to Garmin we found one of the few road accesses to the shore.
What a great beach!!
Sunset was a perfect time to be on the beach.

BIG SUR COAST

We enjoyed a quiet night on the California coast of highway 1.
This is the unofficial start of our first tour of Big Sur
Let me introduce our "wake up call" specialist.
 Coastal View
 Suddenly-elephant seals on the beach!
I knew this mating area was on the coast but surprised when we arrived so quickly.
 What a wonderful encounter.
The males can weigh up to 5000 lbs.
This beach activity must have been over a mile long.

 My favorite shot.

I wish I had recorded the vocalizing of the gathering.
The boardwalk was packed for this great show.
For almost two hours we enjoyed this display put on by mother nature.

HEADING FOR THE WEST COAST

 Running for the coast.
The country side appears to constantly change.
 Hello Pacific Coast!!
To save time, we spent our first night at a Wal Mart.
This bird of paradise was just one of the wide variety of flowers that surrounded our "wally" site.
We stayed two nights at the state park outside Santa Barbara CA.
The landscaping in the area was beautiful.
A kind monk at the mission gave us a private tour.
Lots of history at this mission.
The state park had beautiful grounds.
